Family Project for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders:

From Ann Klockau:

Communication, Autism, and Technology (CAT) is an innovative project that provides specialized training in the areas of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and augmentative/alternative communication (AAC) to graduate students in speech-language pathology at the University of Kansas. Graduate students are paired with families of children with autism spectrum disorders who use AAC or are in the process of obtaining an AAC system. Families receive 20 hours of support from two graduate students each month. That support can occur in home and community settings and is based on the needs of the families. Collaboration between families, students and project staff provides the graduate students with opportunities to learn from families and families to receive support.

Participation in the project begins August 16, 2010 and lasts for at least one year, with the potential of participating for two years. The application deadline is Friday, July 30. If you are interested in applying for this project, please  go to www2.ku.edu/~splh/Clinics/SchClinic/CAT.html which takes you to the announcement. Click at the bottom of the announcement on application form, print it, fill it out and mail it to:

Our Website

Hi ho, this is your friendly neighborhood webmaster. If you've tried to register in the past, go ahead and try again. I've made some changes that should both prevent spam and let everyone register. Hooray!

Remember that you do need a valid email address to register for an account. That's where your registration confirmation is sent. Without it, you can't log in. I only point this out because I've had a couple registration attempts that looked legit - and then their confirmation email bounced.
