Our Mission

The Lawrence Autism Society is a community of parents, families, educators and service providers working together to improve the lives of individuals with Autism.

Society members also act as ‘first responders’ to families new to the Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis, providing information and support.

Hello all!

The Lawrence Autism Society will have a general meeting next Thursday, March the 4th, 7:00-8:30, at the United Way Building (Room A).

We are excited to have Denise Gossage as our guest speaker.  Denise is a parent of a child with autism who wrote a book about her experiences working with doctors, educators, and therapists (something we can all relate to!).  The book is called "Winging It" and you can read more about it here:  http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2010/feb/08/under-her-wing-parent-writes-bo....

Open Gym and Breakfast Series

Hi all.

The Lawrence Autism Society has the Lawrence Gymnastics Academy reserved for this Sunday, the 14th from 4:30 to 6:00.  Yeah, it's Valentine's Day but the kids still need to run about, so come on out!

LGA is on Legends Dr. off of Wakarusa (one block past Harvard). It's $5 a child.  Friends and siblings welcome.

Also, for those of you wondering what happened to regular meetings, we are trying to get one going.  Stay tuned for more info on that.

Princess and the Frog Special Showing

Special showing of "Princess and the Frog" on Saturday, Jan 16th at 11:00am.  Doors open at 10:30am.  Kids go FREE, adults buy a ticket.  The show will run without previews, the lights will be up a little and the sound will be down a little.  This event is open to all kiddos with special needs and their friends and family.

Hi ho, this is your friendly neighborhood webmaster. If you've tried to register in the past, go ahead and try again. I've made some changes that should both prevent spam and let everyone register. Hooray!

Remember that you do need a valid email address to register for an account. That's where your registration confirmation is sent. Without it, you can't log in. I only point this out because I've had a couple registration attempts that looked legit - and then their confirmation email bounced.

Parent's Night Out

We are (finally!) gearing up for a much-needed Parents Night Out.  We have the upstairs room at Free State reserved for 7:15 next Wednesday, Dec. 16th.

Appetizers provided by LAS.  Take a break from the hustle and bustle, get a sitter, and join us!
